Longman Tax Recruitment's 2014 Tax Career Satisfaction survey – the results!

Longman Tax Recruitment's 2014 Tax Career Satisfaction survey – the results!

We recently conducted a survey amongst tax professional across the North of England and have now analysed the results.

Firstly we would like to thank all of you who took the time to take part in the survey. Last year many of our clients requested copies of the survey report and some entered into subsequent dialogue with us over some of the findings. So we like to think that employers are taking heed of some of the issues you are identifying.

Amongst the interesting findings this year are that:-

·         60% of respondents say that their employer respects the need for a work life balance

·         55% feel they have the opportunity to progress their career with their current firms

·         Over 10% received a bonus in 2013 that was more than 10% of their salary.

If you would like a copy of the full survey results please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

If you want to discuss any aspects of the survey or find out how current market conditions impact on finding tax jobs in the North of England please get in touch.

We have expanded again!!

We are delighted to announce that our newest recruit Michelle Bhanji is now on board. Michelle, who is ATT qualified, joins us having started her career in tax with two of the big four firms. She hails from Durham and is going to be working with our clients and candidates in Yorkshire and the North East. To coincide with Michelle's appointment we have also taken offices in Leeds (at Wellington Place) and Newcastle (on Quayside). Our Managing Director, Mike Longman, said "The market for tax jobs in the North has really taken off in recent months and we are delighted to have recruited Michelle and to have greater resources to service clients and candidates in the North East and Yorkshire". Michelle is keen to meet as many clients and candidates as possible – so do get in touch. What better way to pass half an hour in the quite(r) summer months?

Manchester Branch of CIOT & ATT celebrates ATT's 25th birthday

The Manchester branch of the CIOT and ATT recently held a lunch at the Great John Street Hotel to mark the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Association of Tax Technicians. The lunch was attended by the National Presidents of both the CIOT and ATT as well as representatives of the Manchester branches of other professional bodies, a local ATT multiple prize winner and several past Chairpersons of the Manchester branch. Our MD, Mike Longman, was one of the guests (in his capacity as a former branch Chairman). Mike is pictured at the far left of the attached photo along with other past Chairs (Heather Self, Mike Hodges, Mark Fink – the current Chair, Debbie Dixon and Wendy Halsall). An excellent lunch was enjoyed by all concerned!

Private client job market buoyant

Private client job market buoyant

Maybe it is a reaction to the end of the January self-assessment silly season, maybe there is some strange cosmic alignment of planets or perhaps it is just one of those things – but nearly 70% of the new jobs we have started working on in February are private client roles. We have vacancies from semi-senior level through to partner and these tax jobs are spread right across the North of England (including some high-level opportunities with some of the very top brands in the private client arena).  Please get in touch if you are a private client specialist and want to learn more.
