Manchester CIOT Quiz Evening
Manchester CIOT Quiz Evening
We are delighted to be sponsoring the CIOT Manchester branch's Quiz Evening on Thursday 20th April at the Living Room. We look forward to networking with the local branch members and getting the chance to pit our wits against all the tax brain-boxes! As Jeremy Paxman says – fingers on buzzers!
This month marks the fourth anniversary of Alison Riordan joining Longman Tax Recruitment. During that time Alison has helped lots of in-house and indirect tax candidates find new roles (and made many clients very happy in the process). Alison has a fantastic in-depth knowledge of "who's who" in these markets across the North and is also an amazing source of market information. If you work, or in the future want to work, in these markets, there really is no-one better to speak to.

Bonus Bonanza! (or is it?)
The full results of the 2016 Longman Tax Recruitment tax staff career satisfaction survey are being analysed and our report will be produced and made available to respondents and clients before the end of the month. However we are issuing a sneak preview of the results of one of the questions on a subject that is close to the heart of many tax professionals – their annual bonus!
This year's survey shows that nearly 35% of respondents have received a bonus in 2016 whilst almost as many (30.3%) have never received a bonus from their current employer. A very interesting statistic, which highlights the different ways remuneration packages can be structured for tax professionals across the North of England.
If you would like to benchmark your current remuneration package, don't forget to make use of our free, no obligation salary benchmarking service. Contact one of the team for further details.
Ian's 5th Anniversary
During October 2016 we are celebrating Ian Riley's fifth anniversary of joining Longman Tax Recruitment.
Ian, pictured here starting the celebrations early at the recent CIOT gin tasting evening in Liverpool, joined us in the same month that his beloved Manchester City fluked a narrow 6-1 win at Old Trafford. It was only because our MD Mike Longman (from the red half of Manchester) could see that Ian was destined to great things in tax recruitment that he managed to see out the first month against such a difficult backdrop!
Ian, who became a Director in 2013, has since placed dozens of tax specialists into new roles in the profession. He now oversees all our professional practice assignments right across the North of England. As Mike Longman said "Any business only excels if it has first class people in key positions. In recruitment that is even truer given the importance of building a rapport with both candidates and clients alike. Ian has used his specialist knowledge of the tax profession alongside his dedication and integrity to become a trusted and respected leader in the market"
